Seven tools
Everything here adds to My Material List, which stays in this browser as you move between pages. Nothing is sent until you choose to send it.
TMT weight and length
Weight from diameter and length, or length from a known weight.
kg per metre = d² ÷ 162.2 | density 7850 kg/m³Theoretical calculated weight only. Calculator results are preliminary estimates for requirement and quotation preparation. They are derived from published geometry and a stated density, and actual weight varies within manufacturing tolerance. Final material specification and structural quantities must follow drawings, BOQ and engineer or project requirements. Diameter is nominal.
Tube, section and plate weight
Theoretical calculated weight from geometry and nominal density. The fields change with the section type, so nothing irrelevant is asked for.
round π×(OD−t)×t×L×7850 | square (A²−(A−2t)²)×L×7850 | rect (A×B−(A−2t)(B−2t))×L×7850 | flat W×t×L×7850 | plate L×W×t×7850Theoretical calculated weight based on entered geometry and nominal steel density (7850 kg/m³). Actual supplied weight can vary within manufacturing tolerances and according to the commercial measurement basis used for the quoted material. Commercial quantity and billing basis are confirmed on the quotation. Calculator results are preliminary estimates for requirement and quotation preparation.
Quantity
Piece and length conversions
Pieces to weight, and back
Converts between a piece count and a weight, using a per-piece weight you supply.
The per-piece weight is yours to supply — from the section calculator above, or from the mill test certificate or supplier figure where you have one. We do not hold a table of standard piece weights, because they vary by manufacturer and tolerance.
Linear length
Add a labelled run per section. Totals in metres and feet.
Useful for ridges, flashings, kerbs, handrails and any material bought by running length.
Roofing
Sheet estimator
Roofing sheet estimator
Effective cover width and end lap are your inputs. We apply no default lap and no wastage.
Where the slope is longer than one sheet, more than one row is needed and an end lap applies. This estimator will not count a multi-row roof until you enter the end-lap length — it does not apply a default. The effective longitudinal cover depends on sheet profile, roof slope, manufacturer specification and project detailing.
Effective cover width comes from the sheet profile. Measuring a loose sheet gives the overall width, which is wider and will make you order too few.
Final sheet quantities depend on effective cover, sheet arrangement, laps, roof geometry, detailing and project or manufacturer requirements. This is a preliminary estimate, not a roof design, and it takes no account of pitch, purlin spacing, wind loading or structural requirements.
Area
Area calculator
Area
Measurement aid only, for wall areas, paving, roof plan area and slab areas.
Delivery
Site access planner
Delivery and site access planner
Steel and bulk materials arrive on large vehicles. These are the questions that decide whether a delivery succeeds.
Long sections and full loads need room to manoeuvre and something to unload with. Telling us before the vehicle leaves avoids a wasted trip — where a delivery cannot be completed because agreed access or unloading is unavailable, additional transport charges may apply.
