Mesh, reinforcement accessories and fencing
Cover blocks cost very little and are the whole reason reinforcement lasts. Send the specification and the right items get quoted.
What this category covers
Welded mesh
Reinforcement mesh in standard sheet and roll sizes, in the common wire diameters and aperture spacings. Used in slabs, screeds, driveways and blockwork bed joints.
Binding wire
Annealed binding wire in standard gauges, in coils. The item every rebar job consumes and nobody orders enough of.
Cover blocks & spacers
Concrete and plastic cover blocks, chairs, bar spacers and continuity strips, in the cover depths a specification calls for.
Couplers & dowels
Mechanical rebar couplers, dowel bars and starter bars where lapping is not practical or is not permitted.
Chain link & fencing mesh
Chain link in standard heights and gauges, weld mesh fencing panels, barbed wire and concertina.
Fencing posts & fittings
Angle and tube posts, straining posts, tension wire, turnbuckles, clips and gate hardware.
Cover is the part that gets skipped
Reinforcement without correct cover is reinforcement that will corrode. In a coastal environment that is not a long-term theoretical risk — it is what causes spalling on balconies and chajjas within a decade.
- Cover blocks cost very little and are the whole point. Bars tied directly against shuttering have no cover at all at that face.
- Match the block to the specified cover, not to what is on the truck. Slab, beam, column and footing usually call for different depths.
- Plastic or concrete — concrete blocks match the surrounding concrete and are the usual choice; plastic chairs hold top steel at height in slabs.
- Binding wire is consumed faster than expected. A slab tied properly uses considerably more than a first estimate.
